And now, the TNCA have announced that the team India all-rounder will once again captain the Tamil Nadu side for the upcoming edition of the limited-overs tournament which is slated to begin on September 19.  He will lead a side that contained a few other key performers like Baba Aparajith and Abhinav Mukund.

Shankar got his debut for the senior Indian cricket team in the 2018 Nidahas Trophy, and he will be remembered for that last-over tussle in the event finals, which involved fellow statesman - Dinesh Karthik as well. Shankar also went on to feature in the 2018 IPL with the Delhi Daredevils and scored 212 in 13 games at a strike rate of over 150.

Coming to this months elite tournament, the TN side will miss out on the experience of Dinesh Karthik, who will represent India for the 2018 Asia Cup, and opener Murali Vijay, who is playing for Essex in the County Championships.
