Jemimah Rodrigues’ 57 off 40 balls and Harmanpreet Kaur’s 24 runs helped India register the second victory in the T20 series against Sri Lanka. Earlier, after choosing to field first, India restricted the hosts to a paltry score of 131/8 thanks to Harmanpreet Kaur's bowling heroics.

Brief Scores: Sri Lanka 131/8 in 20 overs (Shashikala Siriwardene 35, Nilakshi de Silva 31; Harmanpreet Kaur 2-3, Arundhati Reddy 2-19)lost to India 132/5 in 18.2 overs (Jemimah Rodrigues 57, Harmanpreet Kaur 24; Chamari Athapaththu 2-29) by 5 wickets.

Arundhati Reddy took the first wicket in the second over as she dismissed Yasoda Mendis who managed to score only 3 runs. However, Chamari Athapaththu looked strong and rigid as she hit two boundaries and one six already which took Sri Lanka women to 30 for 1 by the end of 5 overs.

The second dismissal of Sri Lanka is marked by the departure of Manodara to Anuja Patil's delivery which is caught by Rodrigues, to make the score 38-2. Athapaththu, who seemed to look the only batsmen who could survive the Indian bowling attack, also fell prey to Radha Yadav's left-arm spinner to leave Sri Lanka with a score of 52-3.

After the loss of their tough skipper, Sri Lankan batsmen, Siriwardene and Eshani Lokusuriyage, were left with a mammoth task of standing for the team and raising the score so that they have a good total. Just as Siriwardene started to build momentum in the game, Arundhati Reddy struck back again to pick up her second wicket by dismissing Siriwardene. Sri Lanka were left with a score of 90-4 at the end of 15 overs with two wickets for Reddy and one for Patil and Yadav each. Harmanpreet Kaur wrapped up the innings by taking two more wickets by the end of the 20th over as Sri Lanka managed to raise a total of 131 and lost 8 wickets.

Indian women started off with their innings on a steady note as Mithali Raj and Smriti Mandhana scored 31 in the first five overs. The first blow for India was marked by Smriti Mandhana's wicket to Prabodhani. Jemimah Rodrigues took over the crease after Smriti and proved to be a good support for Mithali. Mithali was dismissed by Siriwardene after scoring 13 out of 19 deliveries. Bhatia came on the field for a brief period of just 7 balls and managed to score 5 runs. This marked the entry of Harmanpreet Kaur who stood strong along with Jemimah.

India were 77-3 by the end of 12 overs. Rodrigues showcased the high level of anticipation and managed to hit a half-century but was later dismissed by Athapaththu. Harmanpreet Kaur, along with Krishnamurthy and Anuja Patil, finished the game by scoring the remaining runs and registered an easy victory for India.
