Sachin Tendulkar has heaped praises on the Indian team for returning victorious from the Asia Cup, held in UAE. The legendary batsman has also added that basic health and staying fit is very important for a country like India and thanked her grandmother for teaching him the importance of the same.

India won the final encounter against Bangladesh at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Friday, September 28 to secure their seventh Asia Cup title. India had registered the victory on the last ball, with three wickets to spare. Throughout the tournament, India didn't lose a single game and it was only Afghanistan who posed some sorts of challenge and salvaged a tie from the super four encounter. Tendulkar congratulated the whole team on their efforts, having felt that the triumph was a collective one, with every player contributing towards it.

“I would like to congratulate everyone. Eventually what you want is a good team effort and that the team has performed well," Tendulkar said while flagging off the Mumbai Half Marathon.

“I will give the credit to the whole team. Individuals come and perform well, some players play the series well, some players cannot perform as desired but eventually I'll say that I feel happy after seeing the team effort," he said.

Flagging off Mumbai Half Marathon, he advised the lot to consider their health a precious asset, which should be nurtured appropriately.

“..the bigger picture what we are looking at is the good health of India, getting used to living a healthy lifestyle, looking after your health and staying fit.

"I was brought up by my grandmother who used to say that your health is your real wealth and the same message I would like to give to the entire nation. Look after your health and stay fit," he said.
