Krishnamachari Srikkanth has stated that Royal Challengers Bangalore have become more consistent, which has invariably made them more dangerous than some of the other sides. The former Indian batsman has also added that Mumbai Indians are the team to the beat in this edition.

RCB have managed to win four out of their last five matches despite the odds firmly stacking against them. One of the major reasons for their resurgence could’ve been attributed to the fact that their bowlers have become more consistent, with Dale Steyn leading the way. Although the South African returned home after suffering an injury, their good frame of mind can cause a world of good for them, and others may suffer the wrath of it. Srikkanth has stated this theory too and said that the Bangalore-based franchise looks more dangerous than other sides.

"This Sunday could well be the most important day in the IPL. Bangalore, with nothing to lose, look a charged unit and have played a completely different brand of cricket in their last five games. To me, they look more dangerous than some of the other sides. The primary reason for RCB's resurgence is their attack getting more consistent.

“The final leg of the tournament has always seen the team with the best spinners come up trumps. This edition could be no different. With the wickets getting a tad slower, it might not be a high scoring game after all," the former Tamil Nadu batsman wrote in his column for Times of India.

Mumbai Indians are on an eight-match winning streak and will take on a depleted Kolkata Knight Riders who are on a six-match losing streak. To make matters worse, Mumbai have an 18-5 head-to-head advantage against Kolkata. The last time Kolkata had won against Mumbai was four years ago and if Kolkata want to win the tournament, they will have to do something really miraculous.

"Mumbai, seem to be ticking all the boxes. I have spoken enough about finding a good team combination and the former champions have understood that part well. Individual brilliance can win a game or two, but for a campaign to be successful, you need a team. With Rohit Sharma also finding form at the right moment, they look like the team to beat.

“The Indian opener has always relished batting at the Eden Gardens and would love to continue that. It goes without saying that this will be KKR's last chance at redemption. If they can handle the clutch situations better, they still have a fighting chance," Srikkanth signed off.
