The Sri Lankan cricket selection panel has been changed for the second time in nine months in light of the recent performance at the ICC World Cup. Ashantha de Mel will continue to be chairman while Brendon Kuruppu and Hemantha Wickramaratne have been relieved of their post in the committee.

Sri Lanka endured a tough outing at this year's ICC World Cup 2019 in England but recovered well and also pulled off a surprise win over the hosts thanks to a Lasith Malinga masterclass. However, there were doubts raised over the team's fitness and selection criteria which is why many people asked for a change in the selection committee.

As per Cricbuzz reports, the Ashantha de Mel-led committee has undergone another overhaul despite the latest changes taking place just nine months ago. De Mel will carry on as the chairman, but another former cricket, Vinothen John will join him in the selection panel.

Chaminda Mendis, who was appointed to the committee in November 2018, retains his spot while Brendon Kuruppu and Hemantha Wickramaratne have been dismissed from their respective posts.

The previous panel was in charge of Sri Lanka's tours of New Zealand, Australia, South Africa and Scotland, the 2019 World Cup campaign and the home series against Bangladesh
