Virat Kohli hit back at the trolls by saying that trolling Ravi Shastri on social media is agenda-driven and that he is least affected. Shastri is claimed to be a captain's 'yes man', but Kohli added that the former is not bothered by the speculations and focuses on making the team better.

There has been a lot of talk about the credibility of Ravi Shastri as the head coach of the Indian cricket team and also there have been a lot of trolls made of him for the way he is seen sleeping in the pavilion during the match or comparing his facial expressions to that of an alcoholic. Besides the trolls, even in terms of merit, Shastri's appointment has been questioned by many former Indian players as he was although a good all-rounder himself but did not quite fulfil his potential.

However, skipper Virat Kohli believes that Shastri is the right man for the job and has the best man-management skills. He believes that Shastri is a man who believes in focusing on the work that needs to be done rather than focusing on critics or trollers.

"I think most of these things are agenda-driven and I don't know whose, why, what for, but to accept lies in that manner, it couldn't be anything but agenda-driven," Kohli told India Today.

"... In Ravi bhai's case, luckily, he is a person that doesn't care at all," he added.

Shastri had started his career as a left-arm spinner but with the batting ability he had  gradually been promoted up the order, from number 10 to eventually the opening position, where he had an average of 41 and had famously scored a double hundred in Shane Warne's debut match in which he smashed Warne to all parts of the ground.

Shastri was also a part of the 1983 World Cup-winning team and the 1985 World Series where he was the player of the tournament and was gifted an Audi. Kohli believes that this is something that is worth a lot of praise and those who troll Shastri must first see what he has done for the country.

"(Promoted from) number 10 to opener and got an average of 41 as an opener, he is not going to be bothered about someone sitting at home and trolling him, because if you want to troll a guy who has done that, then get up, face those bowlers, do what he has done, have the clarity to do it, have the courage to do it, then have a debate with that guy," Kohli hit back at the trolls.

India, in the past 18 months, have travelled to almost all parts of the cricketing world and have given tough competition to the sides in their own den, mainly due to a fantastic bowling attack and an attitude-change in the dressing room which has led to a winning mentality. Kohli believes that Shastri is one of the big reasons why this cultural change has arrived in the team and he believes that he strives to focus on that rather than the critics.

"He is absolutely chilled out, he says our only focus is how we can be the best team of all time. I think these petty things on the outside, they don't matter at all to him," Kohli concluded.
