Umpiring errors are not new in cricket as at the end of the day, they are humans and there is always a possibility of them committing errors. But yesterday’s BBL game between Perth and Brisbane the umpire decided to give the Ashton Turner out before wrongly changing his mind after raising his hand.

Perth Scorchers batted first against the Brisbane Heat at their home ground in yesterday’s encounter and had a terrible outing with the bat. After a 56-run stand for the opening wicket, the batsmen found it difficult to get quick runs in the middle and kept on losing wickets at regular intervals. Ashton Turner was looking good at the crease and was the highest run-scorer for them as well.

It was the 19th over that was in progress and the batting team had just lost the wicket of Ashton Agar who was picked up by James Pattinson of the previous delivery. In the next one, Pattinson came running in hard and pitched the ball on the length just outside the off-stump. Turner wanted to go for a wild swing on that occasion but he edged it to the wicketkeeper. The Brisbane players went for a huge shout and were pretty confident of a wicket. The umpire looked interested as well and had almost sent the batsman back to the pavilion. He started to raise his right hand to signal the wicket but then surprisingly decided against it. The replays showed a deflection but the batsman was lucky to survive the scare of the final ball in the penultimate over.
