Players producing fake documents regarding age should be banned for two years, opines Parvez Rasool
Parvez Rasool is of the opinion that the players who fudge their age should be punished and handed a ban of two years. Rasool appealed to the BCCI and Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) to not let go such cases of age fraud and take serious action against the players too.
Cases of players faking their age have been witnessed every now and then and take the fraternity by a storm. Jammu and Kashmir cricketer Rasikh Salaam became the latest cricketer to have been banned by the board for fudging his date of birth. Parvez Rasool has appealed to the board and JKCA to punish players with such cases by banning them for two years and even retired cricketers, who have faked their age, should be punished.
“It is my opinion that those who have produced fake documents with regard to their age, should be punished and banned for two years. Even those who have retired from playing the game should be punished,” Rasool said, reported PTI.
“I appeal to BCCI and JKCA that such cases should not go unpunished,” added Rasool.
Rasool was happy with the current administration of JKCA and has lauded their efforts in the last two years. He shed light on some of the problems the association and claimed that quality players cannot be produced under such situations.
“Someone would go with the team as manager and then play Ranji matches. Some players were selected as spin bowlers but play as fast bowlers in competitions. The big players will not be happy with me, but I am saying this. They had made fun of JKCA. How would you expect good players to come out under such circumstances?” he asked.
Rasool claimed that his cricket career would have been different had there been better training facilities during his budding years.
“I played for the country but remained a step back due to the lack of training and infrastructure. There was dearth of turf wicket in the state. Now we have five turf wickets that have been set up in the past two years,” he added.
