I plan according to the batsman I’m facing, reveals Mohammad Shami
India international Mohammad Shami has revealed that he plans and tweaks his bowling according to the batsman he is playing against. The seasoned paceman has also unveiled that he sticks to the plans that he has already made up in his mind and that helps him succeed on this level and frequency.
Playing against Bangladesh in the Day 1 of the first Test, at the Holkar stadium in Indore, Shami produced the bowling figures of 3/27 as India send the visitors packing at 150. Other than Shami’s three wickets haul, Ishant Sharma, Ravichandran Ashwin and Umesh Yadav bagged two scalps each.
After the Stumps of Day 1, with India batting at 86/1, Shami revealed his mantra behind all the success. The seasoned bowler went on to reveal that while he always sticks to his plans, he adapts quickly to situations and bowls accordingly.
“I want to bowl according to the conditions and the situation. I want to stick to my plans. I have been going wide of the crease too in the last two years. I plan according to the batsman,” Shami revealed at the post Day 1 presentation, as reported by ESPNCricinfo.
Shami further stated that performing well for the team always lifts up his spirits. The bowler was also on a hattrick and couldn’t stop thinking about it during Tea.
“You always enjoy when you do well for your team and country. I was thinking about the hat-trick during the tea break,” he added.
