Nottinghamshire rope Haseeb Hameed on a two-year contract

England international Haseeb Hameed has signed a two-year contract with the Nottinghamshire county and is very excited to join the side and play at the Trent Bridge cricket stadium. The 22-year-old believes that he can take the Nottingham team back to the Division One of the County Championships.
Hameed, a former Lancashire opener, hasn’t had a great run in the county circuit averaging only 26.1 in 2017 followed by a 9.44 in 2018. The 22-year-old had made his debut in Rajkot in 2016 when England toured India and scored a 31 and an 82. With a slump in form, Hameed was eventually was released by the Lancashire county in August 2019. Now, the England opener is excited to play for the Notts- six-time County Champions- and grow with them.
"I'm very excited to be joining Nottinghamshire and playing my cricket at Trent Bridge. I've enjoyed myself every time I've played at this great venue and hope to add to some good memories there. This is a new chapter in both my life and career and I'm full of excitement to start working with my new teammates and helping get Notts back up to Division One where they belong,” said Hameed.
The young batsman also thanked Lancashire for the support and experiences throughout the years.
"I want to thank Lancashire for the support they've provided over the years and to my teammates, whom I've shared a dressing room with. A special mention to (director of cricket) Mick Newell and (head coach) Peter Moores at Notts for believing in me. I can't wait to get started," he added.
