Bangladesh Test skipper Mominul Haque has agreed that Bangladesh batting unit failed to show any resistance in both the innings of the first Test. Mayank Agarwal and the Indian pace attack starred as India comfortably beat Bangladesh by an innings and 130 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the series.

India took their tally in the ICC Test Championship points table to 300 as they comfortably bundled out Bangladesh by an innings and 130 runs in the first Test at Indore. While Mayank Agarwal starred with the bat with a magnificent 243, none of the Bangladesh batsmen could show any promise or resistance except Mushfiqur Rahim who scored a patient 64 in their second innings.

The Indian pacers, especially Mohammad Shami, were too hot to handle for the Bangladesh batsmen and the Test ended in just three days. Bangladesh skipper Mominul Haque accepted that the batting unit failed to put up an effort and that is one of the major reasons why Bangladesh lost the Test.

"We didn't bat well though we had some positive things. Mushfiqur batted well in both the innings and Liton did well. Miraz at some point batted well. We failed to play as a team. It was not a good batting performance," Haque told TOI.

"I think we have to play a lot of Test matches. In the last seven months, we played only one or two Test matches and we did not play much Test games as others. I think it is the main difference," he added.

The Indore pitch offered help for the faster bowlers and yet Bangladesh decided to play only two seamers, a decision which cost them dearly. The Indian pacers were right on the money from ball one and Bangladesh faltered in both their innings to some quality and fiery Indian bowling. Haque believes that the Bangladesh bowlers can learn from the line and length that the Indian bowlers were bowling and this will give them more exposure and experience.

"We can learn a lot of things from Indian bowlers like how they use the new ball and the reverse swing as well. We have to forget about this thing and have to look forward as we have another opportunity in Kolkata," Haque asserted.

India and Bangladesh both will now look forward to playing the historic pink-ball Test at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata from November 22 - November 26. Haque believes that the ICC Test Championship has helped in increasing the competitiveness of Test Cricket and he feels that Test cricket will surely be revived with the concept of pink-ball and D/N Tests as more crowds will be attracted towards watching the game.

"Definitely we are happy with the ICC Test Championship as it is the big opportunity for every player to play Test matches. If ICC didn't arrange these types of tournaments we did not get the games to play and it is doing better for everyone," he concluded.
