Bangladesh Cricket Board's CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury said that there will be no legal action taken against Shakib Al Hasan but he will have to respond to the showcause notice. Bangladesh's star all-rounder Shakib signed up as the brand ambassador of Grameenphone which is a direct competitor to Robi.

Shakib Al Hasan has been sent a showcause notice by the BCB for violating the central contract clause by signing as the brand ambassador for 'Robi' rival 'Grameenphone'. The Bangladesh team's sponsor adjudged this to be offensive and infuriated BCB President Nazmul Hasan, who threatened to take legal action against the player. Even though legal action won't be taken, BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury has asked for a response from Shakib over the showcause notice.

"It's an internal matter of the board and that's why there is no need to take any legal action against Shakib. However, he certainly has to explain why he signed an endorsement deal which is in violation of central contract," BCB CEO has been quoted by country's leading Bengali daily 'Prothom Aalo'.

As mentioned before, Nazmul Hasan, the BCB President, had issued a statement where he had spoken about legal action being taken against Shakib in order to set an example that such behaviour will not be tolerated as it caused financial loss.

"We are going into legal action. We cannot spare anyone in this regard. We will ask for compensation. We will seek compensation from the company as well as from the player," Hasan had said after Grameenphone issued a press release naming Shakib as their 'Brand Ambassador'.

"Robi was our title sponsor and Grameenphone did not bid and instead they grabbed few cricketers by paying them TK One or Two Crores. What happened in the end? The board lost TK 90 Crores in three years," he'd added.
