Hamilton Masakadza has stated that his team is not bothered with the conditions prevailing off the field but are focussed on giving their best on the pitch. He further acknowledged the capabilities of Bangladesh and Afghanistan but maintained his confidence of having the ability to defeat them.

Even though Zimbabwe Cricket is going through one of its darkest phases in history, the players have maintained their resolve to give their all on the pitch for their country. Their membership was suspended by the ICC in July meaning the players won't be able to participate in ICC sanctioned tournaments or receive match fees, but they remain free to participate in bilateral and other such independent series.

“Obviously a lot of things happened. That’s all behind the scenes. At the end of the day as cricketers, our job is to… play the best cricket on the field. The first and main thing for players is to concentrate on cricket and then put our best foot forward going out and do your job for your country tomorrow,” skipper Hamilton Masakadza was quoted saying by scroll.in.

Zimbabwe will be participating in the tri-series involving Bangladesh and Afghanistan in the Asian subcontinent. They will kick start their campaign on Friday against Bangladesh at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, against whom they have made many memorable performances in the past.

“Obviously, both the teams are very strong. Afghanistan have been playing very good Twenty20 cricket and Bangladesh being at home. Though I know the both sides are very strong, we have a lot of successes in Twenty20 cricket here. So I don’t think we are far behind them at all," he said.

Set to retire after the series, Masakadza will be hoping to lead his team to what will definitely be a significant victory, especially considering the circumstances.
