Jos Buttler has been ruled out from The Hundred 2024 because of a calf injury. The 33-year-old was expected to lead the Manchester Originals but missed the first two matches, both of which the Originals lost under Phil Salt's leadership and now find themselves at the bottom of the points table.

‌The 33-year-old took a break from cricket following England’s exit in the ICC T20 World Cup. He sustained an injury thereafter while aiming to make a return and after several scans and medical reports, it was determined that he would miss the initial games of The Hundred. However, it was confirmed today that due to his calf injury, he will not participate in this season at all.

The Manchester Originals are yet to name a replacement for Buttler as they prepare to face the Northern Superchargers on Sunday in Leeds. The Lancashire star has featured in all previous seasons of The Hundred, scoring 602 runs at an average of 40 and a strike rate of 145.

Buttler's injury has put doubt on his availability for England’s home series against Australia in September as well, where the Three Lions are scheduled to play three T20Is and five ODIs. Following this, England will tour the Caribbean islands in November for three ODIs and five T20Is.

Meanwhile, the Manchester Originals are being captained by Phil Salt, who is enduring a tough season with an average of seven. The team is also struggling at large, having lost three consecutive matches and currently sitting at the bottom of the table.
