Harry Brook rises to number two in Test rankings surpassing Jaiswal to inch closer to the top spot
Harry Brook has climbed to a career-high ranking and secured the second spot in the latest ICC Test batting rankings. Brook surpassed India's Yashasvi Jaiswal, thanks to his exceptional performance against New Zealand in the recently concluded series, and inched closer to Joe Root’s number-one spot.
The Test rankings saw notable shifts following the South Africa-Sri Lanka match in Durban. Kamindu Mendis and South African captain Temba Bavuma both achieved career-best ratings. Mendis rose to number seven, while Bavuma broke into the top 10 after his standout performances, scoring 70 and 113 in the series.
In the Test bowling rankings, Jasprit Bumrah held on to his numero uno spot with a rating of 883. Australian captain Pat Cummins climbed one place to number five marking the only change in the top five. Meanwhile, South Africa's Marco Jansen made a significant rise, jumping 19 spots to number nine after taking 11 wickets in the first Test against Sri Lanka in Durban. The left-armer also made a major impact in the Test all-rounder rankings, surging 10 places to number two and surpassing Ravichandran Ashwin with 291 ratings.
