Few players get overshadowed by the greatness of renowned names in any field and Bangladesh’s Taijul Islam could be one of those underrated gems in Test cricket. The wily spinner completed his 15th fifer in the format after setting up Bangladesh’s first-ever win in West Indies since 2009.

A counter-punching 91 from Jaker Ali coupled with forties from Shadman Islam and Mehidy Hasan Miraz helped Bangladesh reach 268 runs in their second innings, asking 286 to be chased by the hosts. Eyeing to level the series with an overseas win, Taijul Islam came out to be the X-factor for the Tigers. He broke through their batting order with only two batters - Kraigg Brathwaite and Kavem Hodge managing to reach the forty-run mark in the fourth innings.

Opener Mikyle Louis was first to fall as he tried to chip a fuller delivery at the leg stump and the red rock repelled off the inside edge to short leg taking a stunning catch. Kraigg Braithwaite was his next victim as the outside edge on an intended forward defence lead to a catch towards slip cordon. Subsequently, Alick Athanaze, Justin Greaves, and Joshua Da Silva followed suit clean bowled and plumb in fronts respectively. This was Taijul’s 15th Test fifer as Bangladesh equalsied the series by a 101-run victory in the second Test.
