‌Sachin Tendulkar acknowledges honourary membership of Melbourne Cricket Club

Indian cricketing icon, Sachin Tendulkar aka. ‘God of Cricket’ has accepted the offer to join the Melbourne Cricket Club. The former Indian captain is also a member of similar iconic clubs such as the Marylebone Cricket Club, Sydney Cricket Club, and the Lord’s Cricket Ground in London.

The Melbourne Cricket Club took to social media to announce on Friday. The handle read, “An icon honoured. The MCC is pleased to announce that former Indian captain 

@sachin_rt has accepted an Honorary Cricket Membership, acknowledging his outstanding contribution to the game.”

Tendulkar, one of the greatest that the sport ever produced, is also a part of various other iconic cricket clubs around the world. In 2012, the Master Blaster was honoured with the Order of Australia (OAM) membership, becoming the first non-Australian to be labelled with the membership. In the same year, he also received the Sydney Cricket Club lifetime membership. 

Two years later, Tendulkar earned the lifetime membership of the Lord’s Cricket Club in London and the Marylebone Cricket Club, which is the regulating body of the cricket laws. It is also the guardian of the Lord’s Cricket Club and the MIG Cricket Club, Mumbai, where Tendulkar trained in his young days.
