The Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auction is slated for November 24th and 25th in Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah. This year's TATA IPL 2025 Player Auction will see 1,574 players, including 1,165 Indians and 409 from overseas, competing for a chance to join the marquee event scheduled for next year.

‌The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed that the IPL auction will take place in Jeddah after a last-minute shift from Riyadh. A total of 1,574 players are competing for 204 available slots, with each franchise allowed to form squads of up to 25 players. Among the registrants, 1,165 are Indian cricketers, joined by 409 overseas players.

The auction list comprises 320 capped players, 1,224 uncapped talents, and 30 players from Associate Nations. South Africa leads the foreign registrations with 91 players, followed by 76 from Australia and 52 from England. New Zealand has 39 players in the mix, and the West Indies rounds out the top five with 33. Uniquely, one player has signed up from Italy.

As of the recent IPL retention window closure, 46 players have been retained across the 10 franchises, with a total expenditure of Rs 558.5 crore. In line with the IPL's mega auction cycle, which occurs every three years, teams must release most of their roster to construct fresh line-ups. This year, franchises were permitted to retain up to six players, with a limit of five capped players, either directly or via the Right to Match option.

Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals have both kept six players on their rosters. Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings, Gujarat Titans, Lucknow Super Giants, Mumbai Indians, and Sunrisers Hyderabad each retained five players. In contrast, Delhi Capitals chose to retain four players, Royal Challengers Bengaluru kept three, and Punjab Kings opted to retain just two players.

The detailed breakdown of players registered for the IPL mega auction is as follows:

Capped Indian Players: 48

Capped International Players: 272

Uncapped Indian Players from Previous IPL Seasons: 152

Uncapped International Players from Previous IPL Seasons: 3

Uncapped Indian Players: 965
