‌Few individuals exemplify the path to success through their actions, and Virat Kohli is certainly one of them in the cricketing arena. Sanju Samson aimed to blaze a similar trail with one of his shot selections during the Duleep Trophy clash against India A but unfortunately fell short.

With Harshit Rana’s back-to-back scalps early in the morning, India A ended up with 290 runs score in the first innings on the second day. In reply, the India D side incurred a couple of early blows, including the loss of skipper Shreyas Iyer. Although a 38-run brisk stand followed, Yash Dubey’s dismissal made way for Sanju Samson’s in the Duleep Trophy. Aiming to make it big, the right-hander struggled, losing his wicket in an attempt to emulate Kohli’s classic stroke from the MCG showdown against Pakistan in the 2022 T20 World Cup.

Samson’s four off the second ball he faced might be one of the eye-pleasing moments in the contest. But he failed to continue his flair in the game as a back of a length delivery that gained steep rise got the better of him on the first ball of the 18th ball. In order to negate the extra bounce, the wicketkeeper-batter tried to play a cross-batted aerial wristy stroke in front of mid wicket but ended up with a top-edge in the process. As the ball swirled up, Prasidh Krishna at mid on ended up grabbing a dolly, leaving Samson utterly disappointed.

Seeing Samson attempting a similar stroke as that of Kohli’s iconic six in the 18.5th over against Pakistan a couple of years back, the Twitterverse was left abuzz.
