Few industries broadcast miracles to the world like sports, the arena teeming with tales of inspirational comebacks and heroic triumphs. Rishabh Pant's return to cricket after a horrid car accident has been similarly stupendous and his stunts in Chennai further proved to fans how far he has come.

India are all set to begin a long Test season with the first of two encounters against Bangladesh from September 19 at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, with the series to be followed by three home Tests against New Zealand and five Tests in Australia. The 10 red-ball fixtures in quick succession feature a slew of interesting storylines, from the comeback of Virat Kohli after a break earlier in the year, the Indian pace attack without Mohammed Shami, and the look of India's middle-order given the introduction of some new faces and some returning veterans.

However, the one facet that has attracted the most spotlight is the inclusion of Rishabh Pant in the squad. The wicket-keeper batter endured a horrific crash in December 2022 and only returned to professional cricket earlier this year, playing the IPL and the T20 World Cup. A couple of weeks ago, Pant officially returned to first-class cricket in the Duleep Trophy and put up an impressive showing, warranting his place back in the national set-up despite three reconstructive ligament surgeries to repair his knee. The 26-year-old had last worn the all-whites for India against Bangladesh themselves just before his accident and was evidently jovial upon being back in the side.

The fans were equally eager to share in the excitement as the Indian team practiced in the outfields of Chepauk. At one point, the players were playing keep-ups with a football and a failed Pant attempt saw him fall prone on the floor. However, instead of accepting a helping hand from his colleagues, Pant sprung back to his feet with an athletic push against the floor, sending Twitterati and the watching audience into a frenzy.
