‌South Africa recovered well after being put into bat by India and suffering an early jolt in the third ODI in Visakhapatnam on Saturday. The Proteas lost opener Ryan Rickelton cheaply in the first over before Quinton de Kock and captain Temba Bavuma repaired the innings with a 113-run stand.

Though the wicketkeeper-batter smashed six sixes and eight fours during his aggressive 89-ball 106, the Proteas innings collapsed in the middle phase to slide from 168/2 to 199/5. Dewald Brevis and Marco Jansen, however, looked comfortable during their sixth-wicket stand as skipper Rahul had to continue Arshdeep for a fourth over in his second spell.

The left-arm pacer angled one away from Brevis after pitching on a short of a length with the batter going for a full-blooded cut. However, Rohit Sharma showed extraordinary reflexes to dive to his left to stop a certain boundary.

The former Indian skipper rolled back the years as he quickly got back into position to hurl a throw at the striker’s end. But the tall Jansen made ground, with the ball missing the timber as teammates rushed into exchange high-fives with the veteran batter.

Twitter was in awe of Rohit’s stunning reflexes even at this age but he was visibly annoyed at missing the direct hit.
