Sri Lanka have named their 18-man squad for the forthcoming two-match Test series against Australia, starting January 29. Lahiru Udara and Sonal Dinusha have earned maiden call-ups to the side on the back of impressive domestic performance while Pathum Nissanka is yet to get fitness clearance.

The Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) has announced their squad for a couple of Tests against Australia, which is a part of the 2023-25 World Test Championship cycle. Dhananjaya de Silva, who incurred a side strain during a recent domestic game will be leading the troops after getting cured.

Dinusha smoked a couple of centuries in List A games last month for the Colombo Cricket Club. The 24-year-old has been making the right waves with the willow, averaging 40.08 in 44 first-class games.

Meanwhile, Udara is more of a domestic veteran who has been making the rounds in the team selection meetings. He has been added as a cover for injured Nissanka, who is made subject to available for the first Test. Udara smashed 142 and 65 recently in the domestic circuit.

The batting looks mostly similar to the squad that toured South Africa with Dimuth Karunaratne, Angelo Mathews, Kamindu Mendis, Kusal Mendis, de Silva, and Dinesh Chandimal being a part. Samarawickrama is the backup keeper while Oshada Fernando might play at the top. Their premium fast bowlers include Asitha Fernando, Vishwa Fernando, Lahiru Kumara, and Milan Rathnayake.
