Injuries are a part and parcel of a sportsperson’s career but some of them can be unbearably painful. West Indies star Kemar Roach incurred a similar fate after suffering an embarrassing groin injury despite completing a brilliant catch in the third session of the second Test against Pakistan.

Eyeing to draw level the series, Kraigg Brathwaite, the captain of West Indies chose to field first in the rank-turner Multan track. However, they were taken aback as the Pakistan spinners ran through the batting department before their bottom three batters piled up 116 runs, highlighted by a Gudakesh Motie 55. In response, Pakistan lost early wickets before Saud Shakeel and Mohammad Rizwan’s stubborn effort irritated the visitors after Tea. As the partnership grew 68, Shakeel found his way back to the pavilion, courtesy of a brilliant catch irrespective of a masculine tragedy.

On the second ball of the 35th over, Jomel Warrican bowled a flighted fuller delivery outside the stumps that Shakeel tried to shimmy down the ground and flick it aerially towards deep mid-wicket region. He came up to the pitch of the ball and seemed perfect in his execution before Roach from the deep sprinted long way to his left and pounced on the red cherry to grab the ball firmly before rolling sideways like a cannonball. However, tragedy followed suit as Roach was seen grimacing in pain while lying crouched. Right after, the physio strolled in and he was seen leaving the field while gesturing at his groin. While Shakeel was already dismissed, the Twitterverse erupted over his mysterious injury.
