Sanju Samson’s wicketkeeping skills have always gone below the radar, with his batting skills taking center stage. The wicketkeeper-batter reminded the cricketing world about his prowess with the gloves with a stunning catch during the India-UAE Asia Cup T20 2025 game in Dubai on Wednesday.
India were on a roll after skipper Suryakumar Yadav opted to bowl first in their inaugural game of the Asia Cup T20 2025 campaign against the United Arab Emirates on Wednesday. The UAE batting unravelled after a decent start that led them to 25/0 in the first three overs.
In no time, the Gulf nation slipped to 50/5 at the end of the ninth over as Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakravarthy spun a web around their batters after Jasprit Bumrah provided the opening breakthrough. Left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep picked up 3/7 in his first two overs, while Varun had 1/4 in his first two.
Suryakumar Yadav tried to test his bench strength in bowling as he introduced Shivam Dube into the attack and the Mumbai all-rounder obliged with a wicket in his third ball. He induced Asif Khan’s edge after bowling a short of a length delivery outside off stump.
Wicketkeeper Sanju Samson put his fast reflexes to good use as he went airbound to complete an impressive catch. Just as the ball took the outside edge, Samson jumped to his right to pouch the ball safely with both hands.
He was charged up as he pumped his fists in ecstasy as the teammates rushed to congratulate him. Twitter was in awe of his superlative effort as Superman Samson showed again why he was a reliable bet behind the stumps.
