The most awaited clash of the T20 World Cup 2026 is set to take place on 15 February. It will be two arch rivals, India and Pakistan facing each other at Colombo. Right before the game, fans have been worried whether Abhishek Sharma would play for the team or not. But a hint has now been given by an Indian bowler on this matter.
The T20 World Cup will be getting much more intense now, as the El Clásico clashes are about to begin. India and Pakistan will be facing each other in their next group stage game, which is set to take place on 15 February at Colombo. Before this game, India played a match against Namibia, and had a major injury issue in that game.
Abhishek Sharma missed out on the match, as he was suffering from stomach issues. In his replacement, the team has gone with Sanju Samson, who managed to bring just 22 runs to the board. As India awaits the next game, a star bowler has given a hint whether Abhishek Sharma will be playing the next game against Pakistan or not.
Chakravarthy Talks on Abhishek's Availability
Varun Chakravarthy was present yesterday in the post match conference. He was dominant for the Indian team in yesterday's game against Namibia, as he took 3 wickets and conceded just 7 runs in his spell. In the post match conference, he was also questioned about the availability of Abhishek Sharma, and the team's preparations for the game against Pakistan.
When questioned about Abhishek Sharma, he said, “I think he will play the next match, I don’t know. As far as I have spoken to him, he looks good and did some practice today also. He told that he’s on the way.”
It still remains unclear whether Abhishek Sharma will be playing in the crucial game or not. India has already won both of its games in the current edition, and the next game is scheduled against Pakistan. A win over them would be enough to guarantee India a spot in the Super Eight stages.
Arshdeep’s Pep Talk
Arshdeep Singh has undoubtedly positioned himself as a funny character in the Indian team. In the match against Namibia also, he was able to take a wicket in his three overs spell. Following the match, Arshdeep Singh posted a video on his Instagram account, asking Abhishek Sharma about his health.
He first asked Abhishek how he is feeling right now. Since it was Arshdeep making the video, Abhishek Sharma replied by saying that the Dal Rice is good. Arshdeep went on to ask his question again by saying, “Dal Rice good. Are you good?” Abhishek Sharma also replied to the same by saying that yes he is good.
Even in yesterday's game, he was spotted in the dugout and replaced by Samson in the line-up. During the toss, the Indian captain also revealed that he may miss a game or two. Now with the statements of Varun Chakravarthy and Abhishek Sharma himself, it seems that he may be ready to play the game against Pakistan.
Abhishek's Fireworks against Pakistan
Abhishek Sharma is currently standing as the number one T20I batsman in the ICC rankings. And he is not at the top by a small margin, he is leading over the others by a mile. However, he didn't have a good start to the T20 World Cup, as he went out for a golden duck in the first game and missed out on the second.
Abhishek Sharma vs Pakistan:

- Runs: 110
- Average: 36.66
- Strike Rate: 189.65

But the match against Pakistan could be a great chance for Abhishek Sharma to make his comeback. He was able to dominate against Pakistan in the head to head games in the Asia Cup 2025. While Pakistan has a strong bowling line-up, his batting skills have been dominating against every team.
The first time he faced Pakistan in the Asia Cup, he gave a blistering start to the Indian team but was not able to convert it well. He scored 31 runs off 13 balls in the first game against them but dominated well in the Super Four. His best score against Pakistan of 74 runs came in that game. However, Abhishek was unable to do well in the finals, as he got out after scoring just 5 runs.
