India and Sri Lanka Set for Two-Test Battle as Dates Are Revealed
The Indian team will be going against Sri Lanka for a two match Test series. These games will be crucial for the team, in order to strengthen its WTC qualification chances. India last played a Test series for the WTC cycle in October, losing to South Africa.

The Indian team will be back in action in the longest format of the game. And this time, fans have been waiting for the Indian team to play an away series against any Test playing nation. After a long time, the schedule of the much awaited India tour of Sri Lanka has been announced.
The announcement for the same has been made by the Sri Lanka Cricket board, as it has unveiled the dates for the two Test matches. The first Test match of the series is set to commence on 15 August and will be played at the Galle International Cricket Stadium. And for the second Test, it will be played from 23 August at Colombo.
This series will turn out to be an important one for both India and Sri Lanka. In order to make it to the WTC finals, India will have to win both of the matches in this series and enhance their chances. On the other hand, Sri Lanka will also aim to qualify for its maiden WTC final by winning this series.
Our Take
The Indian team will be facing one of its biggest challenges in the transition phase. Shubman Gill has led the team well in the longest format of the game, but he has still not been able to help the team grab a series win against some of the big teams. And the series against Sri Lanka comes as a big opportunity, as India last won a series at their venue in 2017, with Virat Kohli as the captain.
