Indian-Origin Aussie Star on the Verge of Creating Cricket History
Almost every cricket team is having some of the Indian origin players. But for Australia, it has been a long time since fans saw an Indian origin player represent the team. Recently, the board has announced its T20I squad against Bangladesh, where Nikhil Chaudhary’s name has been added.

Australia has announced its squad for the T20I series against Bangladesh, and this has some surprising names. One of them even includes an Indian origin player, who has been playing domestic in Australia for a long time. And that player is none other than Nikhil Chaudhary.
His name has been added to the list as a replacement for Travis Head. The Australian opener decided to rule himself out of the series due to some personal reasons. With him being unavailable, Nikhil Chaudhary will have the opportunity to be the first Indian origin man to play for Australia in 60 years.
The last time this was done by any player, it was one of Australia's legendary players, Rex Sellers. He was born in Valsad in Gujarat, and played more than 50 domestic first class games for South Australia. It should be noted that he has also played against the Indian team at the Eden Gardens.
Our Take
Nikhil Chaudhary has been doing well in the Big Bash League and even the Australian domestic, which has helped him to make his debut for the team. If he is able to make it to the playing XI, he would be the first man in 60 years of Indian origin to play for Australia. It should be noted that both Tanveer Sangha and Jason Sangha are having their roots in India, but they were born in Australia.
