England Management Responds to Growing Retirement Rumours Around Ben Stokes
Ben Stokes has been at the centre of the headlines following the Nightclub Incident. Reports claim that he might retire from the game since the protocols had been broken. But the ECB Managing Director, Rob Key, has addressed the retirement rumours.

The New Zealand tour of England has already seen one unexpected retirement. It was rumoured that Ben Stokes could retire from the game right before the second Test. But unexpectedly, it turns out that the one who retired is Kane Williamson. Still, the tensions around Ben Stokes remain as fans want to know about his future.
Following the nightclub incident, he has been ruled out of the second Test squad against New Zealand. He won't be a part of the game, as Joe Root is expected to lead the side. This has increased the retirement rumours to a great extent, as questions regarding the same were also asked to Rob Key, the ECB Managing Director.
He responded to the same by saying, “At this point of time, it has not crossed my mind to get that far ahead. It's just about finding out all the information, finding out how he is, putting all that information together and working out what the best thing to do is. As far as sacking or any of that stuff, no we haven't got anywhere close to being that far in the process.”
Our Take
Rob Key has confirmed that Ben Stokes retirement calls has not been taken by the board till now. The investigation on this matter continues, as it remains to be seen whether Ben Stokes and Gus Atkinson will be cleared of the same, or will the ECB take some action against them.
