Amidst the ICC Women's T20 World Cup, ICC has taken a huge step to support women during their pregnancy. In a recent move, the board has announced a 6 stage process to help players return to the game. This will provide them with healing and strength to ensure full match fitness.

ICC Takes Major Step to Support Mothers in Cricket.

We have seen players taking leaves for personal reasons, which happens due to pregnancy. And at such moments, it gets challenging for the women cricketers to make their return to the game. With months of inactivity, they also take time to gain access to the same form and fitness they had before taking the break.

And during the ICC Women's T20 World Cup, the international board has taken a bold step in this matter. The ICC Chairman, Jay Shah, has announced a programme, which will support women players during their pregnancy. It will further ensure that the players are able to make their return to the game in time, receiving support from the ICC.

In its statement, ICC said, “The ICC’s Return to Play Post-Pregnancy Guidelines reflects cricket’s commitment to creating an environment where female players are empowered to return to the game safely, confidently and with the support they deserve.”

Our Take

This is a bold move by the International Cricket Council to support the women cricketers. It shows that ICC doesn't just provide an opportunity to the players to show their talent, it also ensures that the players remain safe and their recovery process takes place at its very best. No player should have to choose between motherhood and representing her country at the highest level. And this new policy by the ICC will ensure that the players are able to manage being a cricketer and a mother at the same time.
