India Clarifies Stand on Bilateral Cricket with Pakistan
India and Pakistan have not played a bilateral series against each other for more than a decade. Recently, the Indian government has reacted to the same. Talking about the ICC events, they confirmed that the Pakistani players can visit India but it won't be allowed for bilateral series.

India and Pakistan have not played in a bilateral series against each other for more than a decade. The last time this happened came back in 2012-13, when Pakistan visited India. It was a two T20Is and three ODI match series, where Pakistan won the ODI series by 2-1 and the T20I series ended in a 1-1 draw.
Over the last two years, the tensions between the two countries have increased. This even led to India not playing its Champions Trophy matches in Pakistan, shifting their games to the UAE. Eventually, Pakistan also decided to do the same in the T20 World Cup 2026, which was hosted by India and Sri Lanka. All of Pakistan's matches were hosted in Sri Lanka. There were hopes to revive the bilateral series between India and Pakistan.
But the Indian government has given a clear statement on the same. It said, “Pakistanis will be able to participate in multilateral events hosted by India. In so far as bilateral sports events in each other’s country, Indian teams won’t participate in Pakistan. Nor will we permit Pakistani teams to play in India. We are guided by the practices of international sports bodies and the interest of our own sportspersons.”
Our Take
It is clear that we won't be having India and Pakistan play in bilateral series any time soon. The tensions between the two countries have stayed high, both on and off the field. While the Indian government mentioned that they won't allow the players to visit Pakistan for ICC events, the Pakistani players are welcomed to the country for the same.
