Punjab Kings started their innings aggressively, as Prabhsimran Singh charged against the bowlers and Priyansh Arya played some elegant strokes square of the wicket. This eventually helped the team to score 63/1 in six overs, before Bumrah went on to take the wicket of Priyansh Arya.

Shreyas Iyer and Marcus Stoinis were able to rebuilt effectively, by attacking the spinners in the middle overs. Allah Ghazanfar was able to take the wicket of Cooper Connolly, but Marcus Stoinis was able to shift the momentum by smashing consecutive sixes against Raghu Sharma.
