Amid Criticism, CSK CEO Reaffirms Faith in Ruturaj Gaikwad as Captain
Chennai Super Kings have not made it to the playoffs for three consecutive seasons. Ruturaj Gaikwad and his team came close this time too, but still fell short. Recently, the CEO of the team has shown his backing on Gaikwad as a captain.

Chennai Super Kings are the five time IPL champions. But the last few seasons have not been good for the team, as they have failed to make it to the playoffs for three consecutive seasons. This time also, CSK had a challenging start in the IPL, but they were eventually able to find their rhythm back in the tournament.
Following this, the team stayed alive in the playoffs race for a long time. Even after giving a tough competition, they were not able to win the virtual knockout games and eventually got eliminated. Ruturaj Gaikwad was the skipper of the team for the majority of these games in the last three seasons, but he has not been able to reap much for the team.
Recently, CSK CEO, Kasi Viswanathan, was asked about Gaikwad’s future as a captain. He said, “Ruturaj took over from MS after having watched him for 3-4 years. MS & Fleming have developed Ruturaj into a very calm captain. I am sure that in the years to come, he will also imbibe that quality in some of the cricketers who come in to play for CSK.”
Our Take
The CSK management has backed Ruturaj Gaikwad to lead the team even in the near future. The team has been led by MS Dhoni for a long time but it should be noted that he is coming closer to his retirement with each passing day. And at this moment, it can be noted that the team is going through a transition phase.
