ISL 2018 | It was a very open game last night, says Sergio Lobera
FC Goa coach, Sergio Lobera, has praised his side’s performance in their 3-2 win over Delhi Dynamos at the Fatorda Stadium on Thursday night which propelled his side to the top of the table. Lobera singled out Spanish midfielder, Edu Bedia, for praise after he inspired his side to make a comeback.
FC Goa jumped to the top of the ISL table after they pulled off a thrilling 3-2 win against the struggling Delhi Dynamos team last night at the Fatorda Stadium. Bikramjit Singh gave Delhi the lead in the sixth minute but an inspiring performance from Spain’s Edu Bedia helped the home team draw level. Lallianzuala Chhangte scored the second goal for the visitors before Brandon Fernandes and Edu Bedia bagged all three points for Sergio Lobera’s side.
The Spaniard suggested that last night’s game was an evenly matched affair and heaped praise on his opponents who gave the home team a run for their money.
“Either of the teams could have won the game today. It was a very open game where both teams were looking to attack as much as possible and get as many shots at goal, but whenever that happens, it's not particularly good for the coaches.
“The result specifies that there were moments in the game that either team was not dominating. In the end, what that does is, it becomes a lucky draw for anyone who scores. I also believe that when both teams are going at each other, for scoring goals, it is in the decisive moment that they are better than the other,” Lobera said in a post-match interview, reported Goal.
The European tactician singled out Spanish midfielder Edu Bedia for praise as the latter had a spectacular game in which he scored twice including the late winner.
“I don't like to speak about individual players, but Edu is a good player. He's not someone new to the team. He's an important player and you've seen him do what he did today. A player always shines when the team is doing well with him,” Lobera added.
