Jamshedpur FC coach, Cesar Ferrando, has heaped praise on his side who pulled off a 1-0 win against Mumbai City FC at the JRD Tata Sports Complex on Friday. The hosts had to wait for a late goal from Memo to secure three points and come within one point of a play-off spot behind NorthEast United FC.

It was a joyous night for Jamshedpur FC fans who saw the home side register a crucial 1-0 win against high-flying Mumbai City FC at the JRD Tata Sports Complex on Friday night. The hosts’, under the guidance of coach Cesar Ferrando, looked in control for the most part of the game but had to wait for the dying stages of the match for Memo to score the only goal of the game.

As a result of the win, Jamshedpur bagged all three points and moved to within one point of a play-off spot behind fourth-placed - NorthEast United FC. Ferrando was proud of his side’s display on home turf, especially in the absence of senior players Tim Cahill, Michael Soosairaj and Carlos Calvo, but chose to shift his focus to the next match against Pune.

"Now, we will try to recover our players, this is the most important thing. We played really well. Now the most important match is Pune. We are going to try and have the best line-up against Pune. This is the only thing I am thinking at the moment.

"The most important thing is that we didn’t lose the ball in midfield. They finished the match without a shot on target. So, we have to be proud of the work put in by my team. We are a good team with the ball and without the ball, we are a normal team. In football, you must have a lot of respect for the other team. I think Jamshedpur fans must be really proud of their team. To win the match without Tim Cahill, Michael Soosairaj, Carlos Calvo is a very proud achievement. Right now, this is the most important thing," Ferrando said in a post-match interview.

Meanwhile, Mumbai City FC coach Jorge Costa revealed his disappointment over his side’s lacklustre display. This was Mumbai’s second loss on the trot, but the Islanders are still second in the ISL rankings table behind table-toppers - Bengaluru FC.

"We should play better. We should have more confidence with the ball. From the first minute, it was difficult. They are very dangerous in free-kicks and corners.  We must improve and do better things,” Costa said.
