Jamshedpur FC have acted quickly to bring in promising Indian Arrows FC player Narender Gehlot ahead of the start of the 2019 ISL season. Cesar Fernando’s squad has already seen the arrival of Joyner Lourenco, Keegan Pereira, Francisco Medina Luna, Noe Acosta and Niraj Kumar in the last few weeks.

Jamshedpur FC put in a strong performance in their last outing in the Indian Super League as they narrowly missed out on a playoffs spot. The Cesar Ferrando-coached team managed to finish fifth last year with 29 points having won six, lost nine and drawn three of their matches.

On Wednesday, the Jamshedpur-based franchise announced that they have completed the capture of 18-year-old centre-back Narender Gahlot from Indian Arrows. That meant the youngster became the sixth new entrant in Cesar Ferrando’s squad following earlier arrivals of Joyner Lourenco, Keegan Pereira, Francisco Medina Luna, Noe Acosta and Niraj Kumar.

The youngster attended the Chandigarh Football Academy and began playing as a midfielder there. However, he later switched into a centreback role and immediately impressed in that position.

He was selected for the India U-17 squad that participated at the 2017 FIFA World Cup. The youngster made 10 appearances for the Arrows in the 2018 season and was even part of the India U-23 squad for the AFC U-23 Championship qualifiers held in March. Newly appointed India coach Igor Stimac had named the 18-year-old in the 35-man preliminary Indian squad for the upcoming Hero Intercontinental Cup.
