AIFF Executive Committee to decide ISL-I League future on July 3, informs Kushal Das
AIFF general secretary Kushal Das has said that the executive committee of the AIFF will meet on July 3 to decide the road ahead for both the I-League and the ISL. According to a contract between the AIFF and FSDL, the ISL will be announced as the premier football competition in India soon.
With a lot of doubt and controversy surrounding the future of the I-League, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) has now made it clear that the Executive Committee will sit on July 3 to discuss the same. As there are reports that the Indian Super League will be the topmost domestic tournament in India, it remains to be seen what comes up for the I-League cubs from the meeting next month.
“The AIFF's executive committee will meet on July 3rd and the decision will be taken then. Ultimately, it is there in the contract and the committee will decide on what is to be done,” Das told Sportstar.
According to the Master Rights of Agreement (MRA) between the AIFF and the Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL), a subsidiary of IMG Reliance, the ISL was to be made the top football league in India. Referring to this, Das mentioned that making ISL “has been in the public domain for quite some time, so it is nothing new.”
