Lenny Rodrigues has mentioned that FC Goa’s philosophy in the league is to play as per the coaches train them ahead of the matches. He also praised Ahmed Jahouh’s playing style in the midfield and Ferran Corominas’ presence up top which has given an attacking edge to the Goan unit.

FC Goa got back to winning ways just before the start of the semi-final stage of the ongoing fifth edition of the Indian Super League as they won their last game against defending champions Chennaiyin FC in front of their home crowd at Fatorda. Coro played an instrumental role yesterday by finding the back of the net in the first half of the match.

After finishing the league stage successfully, midfielder Rodrigues has underlined the fact that the Gaurs played together as a unit which helped them do well and finish second on the points table.

“I think we played as a team and this season is a wonderful and great season for us. I think our philosophy is to play the way our coaches teach us in training. In midfield, (Ahmed) Jahouh is a very good player. He keeps the ball and his long passes have quality. He and I always do well together,” Rodrigues said ISL’s official website.

“Throughout the league, I think, we have done very well and my teammates are doing well. The striker Ferran Corominas is the main man who gives us an attacking edge.”

FC Goa are below Bengaluru FC at No. 2 on the table but have the equal number of points (34) with the table toppers from 18 games. With Mumbai City FC and NorthEast United FC at third and fourth positions respectively, Goa will start preparations for the semi-finals which are scheduled to be played from March 7. However, the midfielder wanted to remain silent about the preparations for the playoffs for the Gaurs.

“I don’t want to say anything about that but still, if the gaffer is giving the instructions, we have to follow that. Last season also I played and this time I want to win the final. Also, playing in the semi-final is a big thing for me and winning the Hero ISL will be great,” the midfielder explained.

“I think it was the coach’s decision to make the defence stronger. I’m helping the team (defensively), so it’s a morale boost for the team, I think.”
