Bournemouth striker Joshua King has admitted that Cherries manager Eddie Howe has been a very important figure at the club and helped him shape his career. King has had an unconventional route in the Premier League, signing for Bournemouth in 2015 when the club emerged out from the Championship.

Joshua King has emerged as a fan favourite at AFC Bournemouth since his move to the Cherries in 2015 from Blackburn Rovers. He was initially signed by Manchester United but never made an official appearance for them and then was loaned to a number of clubs ranging from Preston North End to Borussia Monchengladbach. With his transfer to Bournemouth, King started to get his career back on track. In an interview with FourFourTwo, King revealed how he had hopes of becoming a Red Devils player but it never worked.

“I had a dream of becoming a United player. That didn’t happen, but that doesn’t mean you’re not becoming a football player. I didn’t think I got my chance at Blackburn. I got played out on the wing a lot. I think that’s the case with every player though. There’s only certain players like Messi, Ronaldo and Mbappe that come into the first team straight away when they’re young. You have players that need to go on loan or take different routes. I’ve been strong mentally, and believed in myself. Hard work is the main ingredient to how I’ve made it here,” the 27-year-old told FourFourTwo.

King also thanked manager Eddie Howe and expressed his feelings for the Englishman. Howe has been excellent for the club guiding them to Premier League promotion in 2015. The half-Gambian Norwegian feels Howe could someday manage England and do a spectacular job.

“Eddie is an amazing manager, but he’s an even better coach,” King gushed. “He has to be hands on every time in training. Every single session is 100% from the warm-up, it has to be serious. I think he’s more than capable of taking over England in the future. But I don’t think it’ll be enough for him seeing the boys and being out on the training pitch once a month. He just loves to coach and help the players develop. He does everything. Maybe it [the England job] will happen in the future,” concluded the former Blackburn player.
