Kieran Tierney has admitted that he doesn’t compare himself to anybody else despite talks about him being like Andrew Robertson. The Arsenal new boy arrived over the summer but a pre-existing injury saw him miss the start of the season, and he’s yet to make his Premier League debut for the club.

The former Celtic defender’s attitude and sheer talent on the field has already won over Arsenal fans, and with the return of Hector Bellerin as well, many believe this could be the start of something special for the Gunners. However, it’s Kieran Tierney who has fans excited around the world with the Scottish left-back’s no-nonsense performances winning plaudits.

Yet despite comparisons to Liverpool’s Champions League winning left-back Andrew Robertson, Tierney admitted that he never compares himself to anybody else. The 22-year-old went on to admit that he just gives his 100% every game, because anything less than that would be an injustice to both Arsenal, his family and the chance that has been given to him.

"I just give 100 per cent. That is all I can do. It is the only goal I set for myself and I would be doing my family an injustice and the club an injustice if I didn’t give 100 per cent. I am just going to bring myself. I don’t compare myself to anybody else. As I said, I work 100 per cent every day. If it is good enough, it is good enough. If not, it’s not for a lack of trying,” Tierney told Arsenal.com.

The 22-year-old made the move across from Celtic after spending most of his career with the Hoops, rising up from their youth academy at searing speed. With just a year of U20 football under his belt, Tierney made his debut for the Scottish giants in the 2014/15 season. By the start of the next season, the left-back was a regular star and that earned him the move to Arsenal.

"It is a massive change for me here. I was a homeboy, I always stayed with my parents, and I’ve come down here to a different country, a massive city. But so far everybody at the club has helped me settle and I am very grateful for that. People say what’s the city like? I have no idea, I’ve never been in. I train, I work hard, I go home and recover and train the next day.  It is just a simple life and I just put everything into football and all I can to just try to reap the rewards,” concluded Tierney.
