Reports | Arsenal ready to go toe to toe with AC Milan for Donyell Malen
Arsenal are ready to compete with Italian giants AC Milan for young PSV Eindhoven striker Donyell Malen. The Dutch international has shot to prominence after his recent performances for PSV and he has already notched eight league goals in eight appearances, including a debut goal for Netherlands.
According to the Tuttosport, Arsenal have been heavily impressed by Donyell Malen and will try and persuade him to join the North London club. Malen was an Arsenal player in his youth but was eventually sold off to PSV Eindhoven in August 2018. Now, the latest reports suggest that Gunners want the dutch striker back at the Emirates and will monitor him throughout the season before launching and official offer.
Serie A side Milan are also said to be interested in Malen. Milan have struggled to perform in Serie A under their new manager Marco Giampaolo. Milan won agianst Genoa which takes them to 9 points in 7 Serie A games. Meanwhile, Arsenal are very serious about Malen and are ready to offer as much as €56 million to the Dutch club to acquire the player’s signature. Arsenal’s strike force is in red hot form as Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang has scored in 7 consecutive league games.
Gabriel Martinelli too has been on fire scoring 4 goals in 3 appearances. Even if Unai Emery is able to get Malen, it will be tough to predict how he fits among some big names like Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette in Arsenal’s attacking line-up. Martinelli is serving up to be a potent back-up striker meaning Malen will not be able to play in that role as well.
Whatever the case, upcoming months will be crucial for Malen and if he’s able to maintain the high level of performances he’ll surely attract more interest from other clubs too.
