Alexandre Lacazette has revealed that his compatriot and teammate Matteo Guendouzi is ambitious and wants to become one of the best. The French starlet joined Arsenal in the summer of 2018 from Lorient and immediately formed a strong bond with both Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Matteo Guendouzi has hit the ground running with superb performances for Arsenal over the past year or so. So much so, that the Frenchman has made the cut for the final 20 of the Golden Boy shortlist alongside the likes of Kai Havertz, Matthijs de Ligt, Phil Foden, Moise Kean and Joao Felix. Guendouzi has been a revelation since his move to Arsenal and is considered to be a young and upcoming starlet.

His team-mate Alexandre Lacazette has been in awe of the youngster and even admitted that Guendouzi has a bright future. The Arsenal number nine spoke to Arsenal.com on his friendship with Matteo Guendouzi and has admitted the love and respect he has for the youngster. The 27-year-old is a big fan of Guendouzi, both on and off the pitch and even admitted that he has qualities to do very well for himself.

“He is like the younger brother in the friendship group with me and Auba! We all really have a good relationship, we like to work and to laugh together so it’s really good. I’m really happy for Matteo [for being named September Player of the Month], he played really well, he helped the team when we needed him, he is really improving each season so we are all really happy with his performances this month,” Lacazette told Arsenal club website.

Guendouzi has put in some real shift since his move from Lorient and has been extensively used by manager Unai Emery this season. The Frenchman has played 7 league games and 1 UEFA Europa League game so far, making a massive impact for the club. Lacazette also went on to say that the 20-year-old is one of the bravest players and is never hesitant to take the ball.

“We can see that every top midfielder in the world is like this [in terms of demanding the ball and being brave]. They all want to take the ball. Matteo has a good ambition, he wants to be one of the best players in his position so every day he is trying to be the best and this month he showed that he can be," concluded the former Lyon striker.
