Defending champions Bengaluru FC boss Carles Cuadrat believes it will be an interesting game against FC Goa stating that whenever they have played, they have produced a nice spectacle for the supporters. Midfielder Dimas Delgado supported his Spanish counterpart Manuel Onwu to score goals.

It will be a battle of powerhouses between defending ISL champions Bengaluru FC and Super Cup winners FC Goa at the Fatorda Stadium in Goa on Monday. After Bengaluru FC could pick only one point in their first game against NorthEast United FC at home, FC Goa kickstarted their campaign with a 3-0 win against Chennaiyin FC.

BFC and FCG have emerged to be the two most exciting sides in ISL after last season gracing the league with some memorable matches. And head coach, Carles Cuadrat is expecting a similar outcome when they clash again on Monday.

“I hope it will be an interesting game. I think that whenever we play against Goa, both teams produce a nice spectacle for the supporters. So, that is what I’m expecting. It’s very early in the season and points, of course, are important. But we are not in that dramatic moment. So, I think both teams can play a nice game and try to give a nice show to the supporters,” said Carles Cuadrat in the pre-match press conference, the ISL website reported.

While Bengaluru FC have held onto most of their overseas stars like Erik Paartalu, Albert Serran, Juanan, Dimas Delgado, and more, FC Goa have a similar philosophy as they retained the likes of Ferran Corominas, Edu Bedia, Ahmed Jahouh, Mourtada Fall, and others. And Cuadrat praised that.

“Goa is always a very demanding visit because they have a wonderful team. It’s very similar to us that they have been with the same team for a long time.” the BFC coach said.

A huge loss for Bengaluru has been the absence of former talisman Miku, who has scored 20 goals for Bengaluru in his two seasons in India before leaving this summer. And while BFC have brought in Manuel Onwu to replace the Venezuelan international, the Spanish striker looked cold against NorthEast United, which ended in a 0-0 draw. However, Cuadrat has extended his confidence in the striker.

“Yes, he was doing his job (against NorthEast). He was doing good against two foreign defenders with a lot of experience. Against Goa, maybe he has to fight against (Mourtada) Fall and Carlos Pena. It’s a new league for him, new teammates, a lot of new things for him. But we have to support him because he is one of our important players.”

Midfielder Dimas Delgado from Spain, who was also in the press conference with the coach, and extended his support for Onwu.

“Onwu came here with an intent to score goals and we are here to help him. And he will give us a lot. So, we are not worried about him or anyone because we know, we as a group, are a powerful team. We keep working on our things and try every day to be better.” said the Spanish midfielder.
