Arturo Vidal has lavished praise on Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi after the Argentine’s exquisite display of skill, playmaking and goal-scoring. The 32-year-old singlehandedly led the La Liga giants to a win over Real Valladolid and played a part in four out of five goals the Catalans scored.

In the end, Lionel Messi just may go down as the greatest player to ever play football although Pele, Diego Maradona, and Cristiano Ronaldo may have something to say about that. But the Argentine will be a modern great alongside Ronaldo and there are few around the world would disagree with that. However, teammate and former Bayern Munich star Arturo Vidal went on to admit that the Argentine is so much more than every other footballer.

The 32-year-old played an immense part in the 5-1 win against Real Valladolid, scoring two goals and creating two more, which has saw the Chilean lavish his teammate with praise. Vidal also added that Messi surprises everyone every day and his sheer presence on the team-sheet makes all the difference with the Argentine contributing to eight goals in five appearances in the La Liga alone since his return from injury.

"It makes a difference with Leo giving all his quality. When he's like this, the team feels it. We see him every day, but he surprises us every day. Leo is from another planet.  We are happy, we won and the team felt good. I have no words to talk about Leo. You have to take advantage of it and make the most of him," Vidal told Movistar Plus.

The win gives Barcelona a two-point lead over shock second place contenders Granada with Atletico Madrid just behind in third place. But with the El Clasico postponed, the Catalan giants have a game in hand and that does give them a slight advantage. Yet, Vidal went on to say that while the wins help the club, they need to keep improving and cannot play like they did against Slavia Prague.

"These victories help you, but you have to keep improving. The game against Slavia (Prague in the Champions League when Barca won 2-1 last week) is not what we know how to do. Hopefully, it won't happen to us from now on," concluded Vidal.
