Captain of the Indian cricket team and co-owner of FC Goa, Virat Kohli, admitted that cricket is the second loved sport in Goa after football. He was present at the Bambolim Athletic Stadium in Goa for the official home kit launch of the ‘Gaurs’ for the upcoming 2019-20 Indian Super League.

3000 passionate supporters gathered at the unveiling of FC Goa's new home kit and catch a glimpse of India’s youth icon, Virat Kohli. The cricketer praised Goa’s love for football in front of the three fan groups- FC Goa Fan Club, Gaur Army and East Lower Army.

“I love coming to Goa purely due to the passion that you have for football. It’s been more thing for me as far as FC Goa is concerned. The decision to get associated with Goa started because of the support that the sport enjoys here. Cricket is lower than football here. That stands out for me in Goa. That’s why I love coming to the stadium,” said Kohli as per the reports of The Times of India.

FC Goa has played some phenomenal football in the past two seasons but failed to grab their maiden ISL title. They recently won the Indian Super Cup downing Chennaiyin FC in the final. Virat credits head coach Sergio Lobera for the steep rise in the form in the past two seasons.

The journey has been amazing. All involved from day one deserve special mention, but what has happened during the last two years is on a different level. One person who deserves lot of credit for that is Sergio Lobera. We may not have won trophies, but we have played the best football in the last two years. This is the most exciting team to watch,” added Virat.
