Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim admitted both he and his players are underperforming after co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe criticized the squad. With Man Utd preparing for their Europa League clash against Real Sociedad, Amorim emphasized the need for improvement. Despite struggles, Ratcliffe and CEO Omar Berrada reaffirmed their long-term support for Amorim.

For the 2024–25 season, Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has acknowledged that both he and his players are underperforming, echoing co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s recent criticism of the squad. Ratcliffe stated that some players were "not good enough and probably overpaid", hinting at a major squad overhaul in the summer. Amorim admitted that players like Casemiro, who has won multiple trophies, have not performed to their potential and emphasized the need to change perceptions through results.

Ahead of United’s Europa League clash against Real Sociedad, Amorim confirmed that Mason Mount, Leny Yoro, and Harry Maguire will miss the game but expressed hope that Maguire could return for the weekend fixture. Despite the struggles, Ratcliffe remains supportive of Amorim, calling him an "outstanding young manager" and expressing confidence in his long-term future at the club.

Meanwhile, United confirmed plans for a new 100,000-seater stadium, with CEO Omar Berrada stating he would "love to open the new stadium with Amorim as head coach". Amorim also revealed that United has a clear transfer strategy for next season but did not rule out selling key players to raise funds. With Europa League success still a possibility, United’s season could take an unexpected turn.
