Frank Lampard has revived Coventry City, lifting them from 15th to the Championship play-off spots with 10 wins in their last 12 games. His impressive turnaround has sparked speculation of a third Chelsea stint. Previously, Lampard guided Chelsea to fourth place and an FA Cup final, though his 2023 interim spell ended with just one win in 11 matches.

As the Championship season progresses, Frank Lampard has emerged as a managerial success story, leading Coventry City from 15th place to the play-off spots. Since replacing Mark Robins in November, Lampard has transformed the club’s fortunes, winning 10 of their last 12 matches and sparking talk of a potential return to Chelsea. Coventry, once battling relegation, now stand as serious promotion contenders under his leadership.

Former Chelsea midfielder Andy Townsend believes Lampard’s impressive work could pave the way for a third spell at Stamford Bridge. Lampard’s previous Chelsea tenure saw him guide the club to a fourth-place Premier League finish and an FA Cup final, despite operating under a transfer ban. He was later dismissed in January 2021 and returned briefly as interim boss in 2023, but struggled, winning just once in 11 matches as Chelsea finished 12th.

Currently, Chelsea sit fourth in the Premier League, one point ahead of Manchester City but 21 points behind leaders Liverpool. Under Enzo Maresca, Chelsea’s form has dipped with just four wins in their last 13 league games, raising questions over his future. With Lampard’s resurgence at Coventry, speculation is growing that he could once again be considered for the Chelsea managerial role.
