After being the subject of major changes in recent years, Manchester United is set for another massive squad overhaul in the upcoming transfer window, targeting at least 10 permanent departures. Veterans Jonny Evans and Tom Heaton are likely to retire, while Christian Eriksen and Victor Lindelof are expected to be released.
Big names like Marcus Rashford, Antony, Jadon Sancho, and Casemiro have been listed for sale as United looks to reinvest in a proven goalscorer. Chelsea has an obligation to buy Sancho for £20-25 million, but might trigger a penalty clause to avoid it. Under the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules, United must secure £15 million for Casemiro to avoid financial losses.
The uncertainty of European football next season adds pressure, especially after United played 46 games this term and is guaranteed at least 11 more. Altay Bayindir may also seek a move to regular football. Meanwhile, PSV Eindhoven could sign Tyrell Malacia permanently.
Despite doubts, Amorim values Alejandro Garnacho, who rejected a £40 million Napoli bid, and Kobbie Mainoo, whose contract runs until 2028. Hojlund and Zirkzee, who have 14 goals combined, face scrutiny, while Mason Mount, limited to 33 appearances in 98 games, may still fit Amorim’s plans.
