UP Yoddha’s coach Jasveer Singh has said that his team plans to win every match from here on as it is crucial for their top-six chances. After winning their match last night against Bengal Warriors 32-29, UP Yoddha are currently seventh on the table with five wins and five losses in 12 matches.

UP Yoddha edged past Bengal Warriors in a close encounter last night. UP had a shaky start as they got a point neither in raiding nor in defence in the first few minutes. The first points they got was when Nitesh Kumar tackled Maninder Singh when they were down by 0-3. After that, Bengal put in a two-point raid and UP was down to three men, which they then used to their advantage and successfully avoided all-out by executing two super tackles. UP is now hopeful of making it to the playoffs for which they have to finish in top six.

“Look, we must win all games because every match from here on is crucial for us and our top 6 chances. All the teams in the league are good and anything can happen, so we are planning things one game at a time and hoping to win everything,” UP Yoddha’s coach Jasveer Singh said about the approach for upcoming games in the post-match press conference.

UP’s defence was the backbone of the team in yesterday’s match as they scored 16 points as compared to Bengal’s 11. It was skipper Nitesh Kumar who showcased sheer strength and technique by executing five successful tackles, two of which were super tackles. Apart from his seven points, Sumit gave him appropriate support by scoring four tackle points.

In the raiding department, Shrikant Jadhav once again shone and was the scorer of majority points. He scored nine out of 12 points the raiding unit got. The other three were scored by Surendar Gill (1)  and Ankush (2). Even though Rishank Devadiga was a part of the starting 7, he failed to score any points.

“No, I feel no extra pressure on me. The coach has given me the freedom to go out and express myself. Rishank is also on his way back from injury and the captain as well as the team are performing. We’ll just work on our mistakes now and look to continue improving,” Jadhav said.

“I’m still recuperating from injury and am not fully fit yet but am getting there. Once I get my rhythm, my performances will also improve. I’m confident about that and I believe that my performances in the upcoming matches will be better,” Devadiga explained.
