After losing what looked a manageable chase, Virat Kohli was dignified in defeat praising the SRH bowling as the reason for the rival's victory. The RCB skipper also singled out the back-to-back dismissals of himself and AB de Villiers as a key reason for their defeat on the night.

Virat Kohli has had a mind-blowing 2016 season bettering Chris Gayle's previous record of maximum runs by a mile. Kohli has scored 973 runs, just 27 short of an impossible 1,000, taking RCB into the final of the IPL and received the Orange Cap for the efforts.

After receiving the cap, Kohli said, “It is a nice incentive, but it does not feel good to be at the other side of the result. Why Sunrisers won is because they have a strong bowling attack. I knew I was hitting the ball well and I just wanted to keep contributing. Why not, records are meant to be broken.”

Kohli, who is not known for hitting big sixes, appeared surprised with himself after having scored the maximum sixes in the season as well. “I surprised myself there. I opened the innings, someone batting at No.3 or No.4 may not have scored much. Most sixes in the tournament surprised me. I am happy with the award. I don’t want to talk much. The winning team deserves the place here.”

RCB had appeared to be in a position to take down the 200+total put up by SRH, but the team wilted once Kohli got out to an uncharacteristic shot. However, Kohli was full of praise for the team.

“Definitely proud of the way we played this season. This was for the people of Bengaluru. They have supported in worst of seasons. We would have been loved to be on other side of result. We went for a few but wicket was nice. Me and AB getting close to each other was a big blow. Had I stayed with AB a little longer, it would have been different,” Kohli said at the post-match presentation ceremony.
