WATCH : MS Dhoni gives Hardik Pandya a run for his money in a 100m dash
For all the talks surrounding MS Dhoni’s dwindling prowess, there are still only a handful of players who can give him a run for his money with their athletic ability. Today, ahead of the second ODI, Hardik Pandya realized that the hard way when the 36-year-old beat him in the 100m dash.
MS Dhoni’s incredible fitness has been one of his trademarks in his journey and aging has also failed to impact his levels of fitness. Alongside regular skipper Virat Kohli, Dhoni has been one of the fittest players in the Indian side and despite being in his mid-30s, he still has more than enough left in the tank to keep up with the physical demands of limited-overs cricket thanks to his adrenaline-powered surge between the wickets. That was on display ahead of the second ODI in Mohali as even his younger and fitter colleague Hardik Pandya failed to match the former's speed in a quick 100 m dash.
In a video shared by the BCCI, Dhoni was seen having a race with Pandya in which Pandya picked up the acceleration suddenly. But Dhoni, whose understanding of his own-self and the game has become a part of the cricketing lore now, decided to gain momentum slowly and once he was at the peak, he accelerated his motion and eventually managed to overcome Pandya to finish the dash at first.
